Year 10 focuses mainly on AQA Paper 1.


Initially we will consider Conflict and Tension 1919-39 - looking at the Peace Treaties, the League of Nations and the causes of the Second World War.

We then move to Russia 1894-1945 - looking at the Tsar and problems he faced, the revolutions of 1917 and the impact of Lenin and Stalin.

The last term of Year 10 will see us start Paper 2 and Elizabeth. The initial sessions will focus on her background and problems she faced at the start of her reign, relationship with parliament and the stability of her reign.

Year 11 sees the continuation of the GCSE course started in Year 10. The year's programme of study comprises:

  • The continuation of the study of Elizabeth including the Historic Environment. You will finish your assessment of whether Elizabeth had a golden age, look at poverty and look at the issues involving religion.
  • Power and the People - this looks at the development of democracy in the UK starting with the Magna Carta and moving through to the Brixton Riots.
